Eiyass Albeiruti, MD
Dr. Albeiruti is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in the treatment of glaucoma and cataracts. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 2004, and he subsequently completed his ophthalmology training at Henry Ford Hospital, where he was chosen to serve as Chief Resident. He went on to complete a glaucoma fellowship at the prestigious Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University.
Following his training, Dr. Albeiruti joined the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he practiced and taught in the ophthalmology department at the Eye and Ear Institute. He has helped train many residents and fellows, and he was honored for his efforts by being named Outstanding Clinical Preceptor of the Year in 2013. He also conducted research in a number of areas, including laser and surgical outcomes as well as glaucoma imaging, having been a member of the Advanced Imaging for Glaucoma Study Group. Furthermore, he had the opportunity to serve as a team ophthalmologist for the Pittsburgh Penguins!
Dr. Albeiruti is a skilled surgeon who uses the latest techniques to treat glaucoma and cataracts as well as other eye conditions, including in-office laser procedures and incisional surgery in the operating room. He has become adept at various techniques in Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS) procedures. He takes pride in being able to offer his patients multiple treatment options for their conditions while trying to minimize risks.
After several years at the University of Pittsburgh, Dr. Albeiruti decided to bring his experience and skills back to the Grand Rapids area, a place he has called home since attending school at Forest Hills Central. During his free time, Dr. Albeiruti enjoys spending time with his wife and three young kids, as well as rooting for his favorite sports teams!
